Hoy Road to be widened
According to the July 19, 2012 issue of the Madison County Herald, Hoy Road will be widened from Old Canton Road to Rice Road. This section will be widened to four 11-foot wide travel lanes, a 7-foot wide raised median, all with curbs and gutters, plus as 8-foot sidewalk on the south side of the road and a 5-foot sidewalk where needed on the north side.
The projected cost of the construction project is $8.5 million. Construction funding is approximately $2 million short at this point in time. There was no projection given as to when the remaining funds would be available or when construction would begin or be completed.
